Sol y Lluvia are a Chilean fólklor group formed in the 1980's and made a name for themselves as critics of their country's repressive then-military government. Writing songs for poor urban neighborhoods of Santiago, and in favor of human rights, they join the ranks of the Victor Jara, and Violeta Parra as the voice of the Chilean people, in particular the urban poor. They represent the pro-democracy-resistance era of Latin-American social movements
